Thank You and Good News

We would like to thank the two Duke of Edinburgh students volunteering to

Litter Pick in the village each week, which they are doing with much

enthusiasm.

When the news portrays a world in turmoil, with devastating wars, famine and

floods, it is encouraging to hear positive stories about the environment.

Air pollution, which can affect our health at all stages of our life, from asthma

in children to cancer in adults, has often been thought of as a problem too

difficult to solve.

Now, a recent report has found that 19 global cities, including London, San

Francisco and Beijing, have achieved remarkable reductions in air pollution,

with lower levels of particulate pollution and nitrogen dioxide.

This has been achieved by interventions such as cycle lanes, restrictions on

polluting vehicles and more electric cars on the roads.

We can help to reduce air pollution in our neighbourhoods by using the car less

and avoid leaving the engine running whilst we are stationary and waiting for

someone.

Our next event is the Table Top Sale on Sunday 19 th April, 10am to 12 noon, at

the Chinnor Village Hall, at £5 a table. An opportunity to sort out unwanted

items to sell and pass on to a new home. Please contact us for a booking form.

The Chinnor Climate Café meets on the second Thursday of the month at the

Chinnor Village Centre at 10.15am, in the conservatory. Next date is Thursday

9 th April. Informal chat and sharing of ideas and information, over a cup of

coffee. All most welcome.
